If you can get to the aquarium during the weekday, then that would be your best bet. Its not so much as crowded during the school year on the weekends, but suring the summer, its a mad house. It is worth the trip though if you can make it there. Also theres Stone Mountain for younger kids. I really wouldnt suggest going to Zoo Atlanta. Its not the greatest anymore. Heres a link for attractions in and around Atlanta. It all depends on your preference for what you would like to take your kids too. Have a great and safe trip!

I live in Atlanta and we have been to the aquarium once since it opened. We went on a Friday morning/early afternoon last spring and it was CROWDED.It was hard to get up to the tanks and see up close. I would suggest going on a different day other than weekends naturally.
With small kids, I'm not sure what their ages are but check out the Atlanta Zoo (baby panda), Fernbank museum (dinosaurs, kid's section), Six Flags and White Water have sections for little ones, and Centennial Park (fountains). World of Coke is closed temporarily but it's more for older children and adults anyway. Piedmont Park often has family events, too. Check out these websites: accessatlanta.com, ajc.com

I havent been to the aquarium but I have been to six flags and the zoo, they are both nice. Also Stone Mountain is really fun, they have a laser show that is nice.
