I'm sure that I'll upset Ms. Hybrid with this answer, but if you can swing it with the payment, get the 2007 Escalade. It sits on a Tahoe chassis, but the ride, fit, and finish doesnt compare. You get a 6 speed automatic and a 403hp engine. I think the regular Escalade tows about 7800 pounds and it gets about 20mpg on the highway. Figuratively, of course. GMAC has some really good leases for higher mileage driving and thats the way to go. Dont finance it, lease only. If that doesnt work for you, get the dodge Ram Mega cab 2500. Get the diesel. Killer mileage, room for kids and gear, and tows about 13000 pounds!

Try the Toyota Highlander. I love mine. It can tow, has plenty of cargo room in the back, and it is not a huge SUV, so it gets decent mileage. Check out the review on yahoo Autos.

Def. look at chevy suburban and tahoe. they have great gas mileage for an SUV, they drive really nice, and look good too. Not to mention they will last over 200,000 miles if maintained properly.

If your willing to try a cross-over, the Freestyle have many happy followers. Plus rated 20/29MPG. 3rd row foldable seats as well. And if you want something brawnier, there's the Explorer, one of the largest cargo areas...and a real useable 3rd row power foldable rear seats...can't beat that.

Chevrolet Trailblazer or Tahoe should please you. Nothing has a better ride. Do a lot of comparison riding and remember one thing: When the warranty's gone on a foreign car replacement parts will make you vomit! You can't beat Chevy's 100,000 mile power train warranty.

None, becuase that's whats killing the environment and causing global warming.
Please choose a hybrid one if you could afford it or else a smaller car.
However, if you have an eligible reason to buy an SUV then buy it.
Ex. lots of kids, job that requires it...

go to the bluebook online and there you can compare various features for different SUVs. I would highly recommend the Toyota and Honda for reliability.

If you want new, definatly Chevy Tahoe/Surburban/Trailblazer.

If you want used, Honda Pilot isn't bad.
