Found a carry bag with 2 new born kittens in someone had dumped them down a country lane.
I don't really know how old they are, still have umbilical cord.

Wow, how horrible for those little babies.
Kittens eyes open 7 to 10 days after birth...
Mother cats usually remove their kitten's umbilical cords shortly after birth, by licking off the cord along with the afterbirth.
In your case, you can do one of two things. Carefully detach the cord by rubbing on the kitten's tummy with a warm, wet cloth as the mother cat would have done or go to your vet and have him/her do it for you. I do not recommend that you cut the cord with a sharp object, given kitten's tendency to shift about.
Good luck!

You've found two newly born kittens with their umbilical cord attached, and your asking when do they open their eyes?? Unbelievable!!! There are more important factors for you to attend to, than coming on the internet and asking that question - which incidentally was asked 2 days ago, anyway.

Do as the 1st answerer advised, pronto!!

If they still have the cord then you must either get them to a cat rescue ASAP or feed them kitten formula every 2 hours..or they will die. My kittens cords fell off at day 3 so those kittens were just born.

The eyes open at around day 10.

Oooohhh how sad that someone would do that. But I commend you on taking them home with you. Their eyes will open when they are around 9 days old. If you are going to keep them, you will need to get a special bottle (Walmart, or a pet shop will have them) for newborn kittens/puppies and some formula for them to drink till they are about 4-5 weeks old and then you can introduce them to cat food.

People are so heartless! Don't take them to a humane society, as they will be put to sleep - just for being too young. If you can't take care of them yourself, find a no-kill shelter that fosters young kittens. You can look on petfinder.com to find one in your area or call a local vet and they should be able to recommend one. If this anywhere near Racine, WI, let me know. I have rescued kittens this young before and currently could take them on.

10 days old.
you do need to get them to a vet or the local animal shelter.
unless you know what youre doing, its not just about feeding them with a dropper, you have to help them wee too.

You're worried about them opening their eyes? Get them to a Vet ASAP or they are going to die. They need mama and her milk!
