I started taking t4 to lose weight..and it worked at first..but now I am overweight and worried that I may have done some damage.

Thyroid meds do not help with weight loss. I should know, I'm hypothyroid and on them. All they do for me is stop me from gaining weight. You shouldn't mess with them if you don't need them, as they could make your thyroid gland slow down its production of hormone and only make you gain more weight in the longrun.

Below is a link for Synthroid (T4) . It states "T4 is eliminated slowly from the body, with a half-life of 6 to 7 days."

T4 is not intended to aid weight loss unless you have an underactive thyroid in the first place. Overreplacement can cause lots of unpleasant and serious problems eg bone problems, heart problems.

Now you have stopped them, they have a long half life so it will probably be several weeks before they are entirely out of your system.

If you havent had thyroid test done its probably worth getting one done around a month after stopped t4 to see if maybe you are a bit underactive.
