You will need to contact the court house or the D.A. If the warrant is not removed the guy could be arrested if he is pulled over for a traffic infraction. There may be additional charges at this point to because in a case like this, the D.A. charges the person who wrote the bad check for the legal fees of having to process the warrant. So before you tell this guy that everything is fine, you need to find out what his additional charges will be.

First thing is you need to call the Bad checks department in the Attorney Generals office in your state and see what the steps are for taking care of this. They would have the sworn a warrant out on the person based on the complaint, and if it has been settled they would probably be the ones to have the warrant pulled.

You need to get ahold of the court clerk where the warrant was issued and file a motion to the court to have the warrant quashed. The DA does not have the authority to issue or quash warrants. The police can only enforce them.

ok well, was it a bad check?? because if it wasn't then you cant just drop the charges! if it is then the police have full authority to take him in and charge him and may even be put in prison! but if its not a bad check then you can drop them and move on with your life and u wouldnt call the police you would call the D.A!

You need to file a request and order for dismissal with the court clerk, have the judge sign it, and if I were you and you know this guy, I would have him waiting in the parking lot of the courthouse waiting for you to hand him a copy of this dismissal.
You have roused ghosts.
Good luck.

Actually, if it is over 10 years ago, the warrant has been dead for years. Be glad he offered to pay up.
