Hi Sweethearts-Some of the folks that answered probably aren't aware of the other questions you asked, and how you described M-I-L's horrible behavior. Just an opinion here, but the comment she made about bringing your son into the world, seems like it should be said to friends/co-workers,etc... to express pride in helping him be born, but if it was said to you in an argument or tense conversation with you, then it almost seems like she is challenging you on some level. Based on what you said before, she seems to go way overboard on alot of things that come out of her mouth. A good mother in law knows her place. She also knows when she is meddling in her own child's life and upsetting their family, and should have enough sense to back off. Again, it will all come down to, if and when your husband tells her how it's going to be.

She's nuts. My mother-in-law was the same way, she would tell my daughter (then just a baby) that she didn't have to listen to me if grandma was in the room, and tell her that I didn't know what I was doing. She even bought her a onesie that said "my mom doesn't know what she's talking about - if you want to know the truth, ask grandma", and another one that said "if mom says no, ask grandma"
She didn't ease up until another baby was born in the family, then the attention got diverted. Good luck, you're in for a battle!!

Oh my gosh... just be glad she cares about your baby that much!
Who cares that she says that, I mean really do you think people don't know that YOU'RE the Mother?! She is obviously proud that she took part in this wonderful event. Let her "crow" a little bit...who's she hurting??!!

no. i think she's just proud of the fact that she was there and happy that you let her. she may be gloating a little to much but i probably would too. just tell her you're glad she could be there and help but that it upsets you when she says that. be careful though. you don't want to get angry and hurt her feelings. then you'll have more to deal with.

its kind of funny. maybe endearing she has a very strong attachment to you all and feels very special and privileged?
everytime she says that remind her how her son happily contributed to the 'conception' of your son and boy was it fun.
she'll stop bringing that up...lol

Tell her "yeah but I gave him life". Whatever...she is trying to feel closer for whatever reason. Set your boundaries now or she will try freakier things..

Sounds like she's being possessive of something that's not hers.
