Hi am and 26 years old and I have been having severe headaches for almost 3 weeks now.. I get usually atleast 3 a week. They are very severe but usually only one one side of the head. The one I have today seems to be only in the back of the head.. I have tried everything. The medicine, the patches, everything I can think of.. Does anybody have any at home things they do to help relieve headaches. The pain is so severe that I almost feel like going to the ER but I don't think they will be too happy about someone coming in with just a headache.. So any ideas are appreciated..

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas (natural muscle relaxers) daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, (if this does not do it you probably need a chiropractor as well) you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

Try EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) or Emotional Tapping. EFT is a type of acupressure tapping. It can be used for any type of emotional or physical issue.

I started using EFT for emotional issues but I noticed that some of my physical problems just disappeared. I used to suffer from migraines a lot, but now only have them once in a while. And, EFT really helps.

EFT is easy to learn (you can learn in about 15-30 minutes). It's easy to use and you can use it anytime, anywhere for any emotional or physical issue.

Please download the FREE EFT Instructional manual from the EFT website www.emofree.com.

While you on the website, check out the archives for testimonials by people who suffered headaches.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information
