Depends on the engine size (cubic displacement)
50CC no license is needed anywhere. Like a bicycle with aux motor.

Translation: While most states do not require of one to pass a test or possess a driver's license while operating a moped, most states DO require that the operator be eligible for having a license, meaning the operator is of at least a certain age AND the current status of his driver's license is not suspended, thou I think expired would be ok, it is again a matter that there not be a prior violation or specific legal reason why the operator does not have a license.

A moped isn't a bicycle, it is a motor vehicle. In most jurisdictions, if the motor is under 49cc, and the max speed is no more than 30 mph, a motorcycle licence is not needed, but a regular driver licence is.

the only thing you need is your driving skills
