I would avoid any this with citrus and food with a lot of salt b/c these items could irritate the area. Also you can apply a thin layer of Aquaphor before you baby eats (assuming he eats baby food) so that if there is anything in the baby food that could irritate the area it wont b/c of the ointment barrier. I would also do cold pedialyte pops every now and then just b/c it will feel good on the baby's blister. Now how old is your child? If he/she has blister in her mouth she could have herpangina or if she has blister on her hand and feet along with her/his mouth he could have Hand Foot and Mouth. So if you notice anything like this I would consult your child's pediatrician.

OK assuming you know it is a fever blister, be extremely careful of it spreading inside the mouth. If it has already spread into the mouth there is a "Miracle Mix" that can be swirled around in the mouth to promote healing and it eases the pain. It is a mixture of benadryl (of course you would use infants or children's depending on age) and Maalox. I know it sounds weird but trust me I had to go through this when my husband was kissing on the kids and was not thinking about the fever blister on his mouth. It spread like wild fire on my poor kids!

The mixture is mixed 1 part of benadryl to 1 part Maalox (regular strength)
Take a cotton swab (Q-tip) and swab it gently on the sore(s)
It has a numbing factor and is completely safe to swallow SMALL ammounts!

This trick will also work for the Hand-Foot-Mouth disease but either way you need to call the Dr.

I definitely would not give anything acidic to eat right now! Try mashed potatoes and things like that...he may not want to eat at all which could be a sign of the Hand-foot-mouth disease.

Best of luck! That is an awful thing when they are young!
