Whey protein is just a type of protein that is easily absorbed by the body. For this reason, it is often the choice of body builders.
There are twenty standard amino acids (and two special ones that you don't have to worry about). Of these twenty, there are 8 that your body cannot create, and must be ingested. These eight are also found in whey protein.
The theory behind working out is basically when you work your msucles you are creating many, many, many tears in your muscle, and the protein is used to fill them and and make them stronger so they can adjust to the load. That is why body builders drink whey protein.

Let answer your question my asking a couple more. Are you looking to get really give or just define the muscle that your about to develop? Are you working out with a personal trainer? Have you bought any workout books or magazines?
The reason I’m asking these question is different people have different goals. Start off slow. Whey protein is a good shake before or after a work out, but I wouldn’t do both. Your stomach is only the size of your fist and then more you eat and drink the less likely you are to get a good workout in.
Working-out with heavier weights and less reps will get you large muscles. Which most people believe that with this method you have less strength.
Working out with lighter weights and more reps will define your bodies’ muscles and give you a leaner and athletic look

Best when taken shortly after a workout. And yes the more quality protein you consume......food or supplement...the better your recovery from workouts will be and therefore muscles growing faster. Whey protein is the best because it is absorbed more rapidly than other types of protein. Cassein based proteins are slow absorbing and are best taken before sleep to help feed your muscles throughout the night.

Whey protein does help. But not as drastically as you may think. Diet is the best thing. Peanut butter sandwhiches. Oatmeal. Fruits and vegetables. Are all good for you.
If taking whey, take it 10-15 min before you workout. And make sure you get a trusted kind, not a cheap kind from Wal-Mart(what I did at first haha).
And all it does is promote stronger muscle regeneration.

Whey protein by itself is not worthwhile unless you have the time and place to be consuming it every hour, literally. It digests extremely fast, so it's in and out quick.
The most worthwhile time to consume it is right after a workout with some high glycemic carbs.
For other times of the day, I'd recommend a "protein blend" like whey and casein. This is found in alot of MRPs like Metrx for example.

Just keep working out but don't do it every day that will jus stop your muscles from growing. Go to a pharmacy and ask for some formula stuff that you mix in with water. It helps to repair your muscles everytime you get done working out. You take it everytime you get done. But if you want your muscles to grow faster work out every other day, this way u r not working your muscles to hard. Then everytime you get done doing a set of weights just punch the punching bag and speed bag for a good lil minute (if u hav 1) so u wont work ur muscles 2 hard.

Whey protein offers a number of nutritional benefits:
Supplies a high nutritional value including naturally occurring glutamine and branched chain amino acids (BCAA) to athletes.
Glutamine serves as fuel for the immune system, provides an anti-catabolic effect and is involved in protein synthesis. Prolonged high-intensity exercise can decrease glutamine levels.BCAA are essential aminos that are part of muscle protein, they help to preserve muscle glycogen stores and help reduce the amount of protein breakdown during exercise. Whey also yields a high biological value, which measures usable grams of amino acids that are used by the body after intense exercise.
Whey protein is the name for a collection of globular proteins that can be isolated from whey, a by-product of cheese manufactured from cow's milk. It is typically a mixture of beta-lactoglobulin (~65%), alpha-lactalbumin (~25%), and serum albumin (~8%), which are soluble in their native forms, independent of pH. Whey has the highest Biological Value (BV) of any known protein.
Whey is a lactose-free or reduced lactose protein loaded with nutrients and essential amino acids. Whey is comprised of four major protein fractions and six minor protein fractions. The major protein fractions in whey are beta-lactoglobulin, alpha-lactalbumin, bovine serum albumin and immunoglobulins. Each of these components have important disease-fighting effects. In addition, whey protein is easily digestible and lactose-free.

*
Protein is necessary for the building and repair of body tissues.
*
It produces enzymes, hormones, and other substances the body uses.
*
It regulates body processes, such as water balancing, transporting nutrients, and making muscles contract.
*
Protein keeps the body healthy by resisting diseases that are common to malnourished people.
*
Prevents one from becoming easily fatigued by producing stamina and energy.
If you are considering using suppletments to gain extra protein then I would strongly disadvise it. You can easily do the same by eating high protein foods, with out the expensive prices and the damage it may cause. You need about 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight to be healthy.

Hey I workout daily myself and i know its important to have protein in your diet. If your looking for a really good performance and muscle enhancer go with Agel PRO and u wont be dissapointed this product was just released and u can get it at https://www.globalagelonline.com/infocanada/ if u live in us or the uk or anywheres the product is shipped u can get it.
Agel PRO has been formulated to provide a proportionate balance of protein, carbohydrates and fats. Agel PRO contains 20 grams of protein in 175 calories, and it is balanced with medium chain triglycerides. The product is made from whey protein, which adds to the clean tasting strawberry-banana flavor. In the last two decades, there has been an increasing awareness of the long-term health benefits of achieving an optimal body composition (more muscle, less fat). Each year, experts identify more and more disease conditions that are related to being significantly overweight. In an effort to thwart this serious health threat, many health professionals and government agencies are spending hundreds of millions of dollars every year to educate us about the importance of decreasing our excessive consumption of high (but empty) calorie foods, and of increasing the amount of our daily physical activity. We are squarely faced with the global issue of a population that is becoming increasingly sedentary, overfed, and undernourished.
What exactly does it mean to be eating smarter and fewer calories? Why all the “mumbo jumbo?” Calories are a way of measuring the energy potential of a food. Certain foods produce more energy than others when metabolized or “burned” by your cells. Food has three basic components; proteins, carbohydrates and fats, and all three of these components play an important role in sustaining your cellular activities. In addition, your body metabolizes each of these components differently. Proteins are broken down into smaller building blocks called amino acids, carbohydrates are broken down into energy-rich simple sugars, and fats are broken down into smaller fatty acids. All of these are subsequently taken up into your body to be used as energy or to be incorporated into the appropriate cellular structures. Because each of these smaller components can be turned into energy, they represent calories. And, in very simple terms, if you consume more calories (proteins, carbohydrates, fats) than your body needs, your body is genetically programmed to store those calories as fat for later use as a means of preparing itself for times of “famine.” As you are likely aware, your body has a very efficient way of converting extra calories into stored body fat, especially if you are not getting enough activity or exercise during the day. Agel PRO helps By balancing the amounts of protein, carbohydrates and fats that you ingest with your meals and snacks, and by avoiding excess caloric intake, you are helping your body store less fat and build more muscle. This is how you obtain an optimal body composition.
To answer your other questions whey protein just repairs your muscles after a workout so if u do take it i reccomend before your workout maybe half hour or so. Good luck
