Cats do not always have an "infection" when there is a urinary problem. And you give cranberry capsules not cranberry juice if you want to try that. It is not as effective a treatment with cats as it is with dogs.

Go to: www.littlebigcat.com and read Dr. Jean Hovfe's article titled "Urinary Tract Disorders in Cats" for lots of information on the problem and some dietary and supplement recommendations on how to deal with it.

NO....u need to take it to a vetanarian my aunt is one and she knows what to do so thats why i know...Urinary tract infections are just as uncomfortable for pets as they are for people, and they get them nearly as often. Caused by bacteria in the bladder or urethra (the tube through which urine flows), urinary tract infections can make it very painful to urinate. And, if the infections aren't caught early, they can spread upward to the kidneys, causing serious problems.

Both holistic and mainstream veterinarians treat urinary tract infections with antibiotics, but holistic vets go a little further. They use a variety of natural remedies to strength the immune system so that it is better able to resist the infection. In addition, they feel that it is important to correct imbalances in the body that allow bacteria to thrive.

hope that helps u if u have any more qustions about your pet there is a good website that answers alot of the qustions i have a cat too!

i cant imagine how drinking cranberry juice would have any effect on your cat at all. Im sure your cat could care less what you have to drink, specially when your cat is suffering from a urinary tract infection its the last of his worries.

Maybe a more expensive one from an actual pet store for uti prevention ? My vet also gave me pills to put in her food for strenghtening her bladder ......dasuquin by nutramax, its for joints but the vet said it helps the bladder. Always keep the litter box clean too and in a place she likes so she doesnt hold her urine. and give her all the water she wants. yeah the throwing up is NOT good . keep experimenting . ALso try more wet canned food instead of just the dry . Friskies or Iams or fancy feast , not any junk like special kitty . The dry might be part of the problem . Maybe shoot a little cranberry juice down her throat every few days with an eyedropper too.

Number one - you'd be insane to try to get that down your cats throat. Number two - you'll probably end up killing your cat because so many different things are poisonous to them. Even in people, cranberry can help dull the pain but it doesnt get rid of the infection. You need antibiotics for that. Cranberry is not antibiotic.

If your cat has UTI, he needs antibiotics (Clavamox) from your vet.

Generally, a good quality canned cat food should be fine for your cat. Avoid fish flavored foods, which are said to be suspect in crystal formation. If your kitty is on a dry food diet, supplement it with a small amount of canned food each day, also avoiding the fish flavors, with the eventual goal of getting him on a mostly- or wholly-canned food diet. Make sure your cat always has plenty of fresh, clean water, and avoid feeding him table scraps. Watch carefully for any signs of distress, such as straining to urinate or missing the litterbox.
