Beagles are known for eating a lot. I used to have two beagles and they always wanted to eat. Just be very strict with their diet and don't give him any table food. Make sure you give him food in the morning and evening but measure it and don't give him free access to food. Good luck!

Is your dog eating things that we concider nasty but are still organic in nature or is he eating non-organic items as well? If they're just nasty, then training, closer monitoring and more activity should resolve the problem.

If he is eating non-organic items then it may be a disorder called pica. Pica can have either a medical or behavioral cause so my first recommendation would be to see a vet to rule out anything serious.

If the cause is behavioral then, again, training and more activity would possibly improve the situation, since dogs who are bored or stressed can resort to eating strange objects as a form of entertainement or attracting attention.

just make sure you put all potentially dangerous things out of his reach, and watch him as often as possible, otherwise just keep your fingers crossed..and if you ever suspect he has swollowed something harmful rush him to the vet...if it make sthem feel sick they will usually avoid swallowing that same thing a second time
(you can try sparing "bitter apple" (spray u can buy from petsmart) on objects like rocks or anything you can totally remove from where he will be but this has to be re-applied often...otherwise good luck hope he doesnt swallow anything bad
