that is so sweet, sometimes this happens if the kitten was taken from its mother too young,it basically comforting itself sort of like a dry suckling,(you hair) its moms fur..its a very good sign that he looks to you as his mommy, when he does this just tryto redirect it by offering him food instead.

My big huge kitty TrevTrev actually adopted me...when I moved in with a new room mate, he couldn't get enough of me. This of course included the hair fetish. If sitting on the couch, he will crawl up and snuggle into my hair...purring like crazy. If I am brushing or styling my hair, he watches with a nutso look in his eyes. He still sleeps every night on my head making "biscuits" (that kneading paw thing). Sometimes it feels like he is tugging on it. After my hair got really damaged from him chewing on it, I started letting him lay on it, but as soon as he started chewing, I kicked him off of the bed. It took a while, but he got the point. I have found that petting him and "cooing" at him while he cuddles my head seems to help. I just scratch at his head a little. I still cannot go to bed with it wet though..he can't help himself from licking and chewing it. This is definately and affection thing, but realize that you have to make boundaries before they follow boundaries. Just know the kitty loves you. He wouldn't do it if he didn't. BTW...does he do it to other people with lots of hair...mine does...maybe hair fetishes are a certain cat's meow!!

Well... you must obviously know cats eat their own hair. Hence all the licking and coughing...hair balls.
My guess is maybe the cat is turned on by the scent of your hair and is intrigued. It is simply trying something new.
Plus remember it is a cat, an animal. Unless it is finicky it will try less appealing things like your hair.
Or maybe the cat is trying to get your attention.
Or maybe the cat is mad at you.

My cat does this to show affection when i pet him. he also does it when im trying to sleep and he doesnt feel like sleeping to wake me up to play with him so i just pet him and scratch is neck for a while and he'll usually leave me alone afterwards. My dog also does it when she wants to show affection when you havent given it to her for a while. I'm not really sure why they do it, but from my experience it seems that both of them are just looking to play.

I had a cat who would do it all the time. It was her "thing." She never actually pulled my hair out- she'd just lovingly nibble. If it's hurting you and your hair is coming out as a result, kick him off the bed over and over again. I'm sure he'll get the point. :)

Are you perhaps using a styling product that your cat likes the taste of! (Like gel?)
My 14-year old ginger cat enjoys licking my hands after I've applied lotion!
