i would suggest a century wavemaster martial arts freestanding bag...i have one and it's great! I doubted buying it for months because i was afraid i would knock it down with impact but once you fill it with water or sand its great! its huge so you can practice kicks as well and you can move around the entire thing...it's costly though, $200 but its worth it cause i love it! I live in an apartment so its useful cause i didn't have to drill holes anywhere and didn't have to buy a stand. Since you're training at home for a few months i would suggest you focus heavily on stamina that way you're ready for focus on technique when you start at the gym...do many and i mean many rounds of shadow boxing...go the full 3 minutes everytime! you'll have great endurance in no time!

why ru training at home? have you boxed before????, if not its better to start off in a class to not develop bad habits and for encouragement, also to make sure you're not hurting yourself

my suggestion would be to do plenty of push ups (vary for difficulty levels, normal push ups, diamond, hands facing out), lots of jogging or other cardio exercises, boxing is really more of a stamina exercise, u wanna make sure you can last the distance, any decently fit male (I'm assuming you are) can hit a punching bag or spar with other people, its how long you can punch consistently for that counts.

get a heavy bag, it will help with all of that, it will help you with your power, and it would work your legs and arms. if you want speed and stamina, you want a speed bag.
