The beard, of course.
(get it? his beard is pointy. Ha ha ha.)
But seriously, if you are interested in this, you have a great deal of research ahead of you about imagery of Satan. The popular image of a red goat-like devil with a tail and pitchfork is one of many, many conceptions.
I think that our currently familiar horns-and-beard Satan is a carryover from the times when Christianity was trying to suppress Paganism, and converting aspects of pagan practice into things associated with evil and Satan. A common pagan god was depicted as a goat-like person, and Christianity came to take that god and say it was Satan. Then they could accuse pagans of being devil-worshippers.
Beards are a trait of goats, as are the cloven hooves and horns, which we see our modern Satan bearing. A carry-over from other portrayals is the demon tail. I don't know what the origins of that are.
Don't take my answer as fact, because I'm only giving it to you from stuff I remember reading years ago. You should go to the library, and try searching for sources on things like "imagery in christianity."

Artist's rendition. It mostly comes from the depiction of Satan as a faun or satyr. Though this begs the question of how this association came about, as fauns and satyrs in other mythologies are not necessarily beings of "evil". It may have to do with the church's effort to associate the fun things satyr's represent with "evil". The church has quite a history of telling people that fun things are sinful.
A friend of mine also pointed out how some older pictures of the devil usually show him with a large nose. Subliminal anti-semitism!

If you talk to any proffesional in the mental departement like pshychologist of pshychiatrist they will tell you that people who grow mustaches or beards do so because they have secrets they want to hide from the world ..so Satan is depicted with a beard in most of his pictures because he is allways trying to hide his true identity..he is allways trying to trick man into thinking he is someone else in order to lure him into trusting him..so i hope this helps your question..

its just people's imaginations that gave him a beard. He is a spirit, so he does not have physical body, although he may inhabit a being, like the serpent in Genesis.
