Besides the obvious that one contains sulphur and one doesn't, how do you tell the difference? Is sulphured fruit dangerous to eat? I've been eating a lot of dried ginger for morning sickness and I read it can be unhealthy.

Sulfur is used to prevent discoloration. It changes the flavor some. Mainly it's a marketing thing, like red dye in meat.

Mainly color, the sulfur helps the dried fruit retain it's natural color while unsulfured fruit tend to brown when dried.

The compouds is usually sulfur dioxide.
It's probably safe in small amounts.

In terms of dried ginger, is it sulphured?
I thought it was mainly preserved by high levels of sugar.

Sulfur is used to speed up the drying process. Unsulfured dried fruit is just dried by the sun or another heat source.

The sulfur in dried fruit probably isn't going to do you any harm.

that is an interesting question, I personally do not really want to have to eat sulphur as I ascribe to try to eat an all PLANT based diet... sulphur more sounds like something that would be suitable in low doses for FERTILIZER, but I really do not know,

Sometimes it is true that we may get AILMENTS where ELEMENTS like sulphur would help us or other DIRECT minerals or SYNTHETICS(as in drugs) ... but well again I think that most people IN GENERAL would fare better on a PLANT BASED diet
