I guess I've been guilty of spiritism or divination if I KNOW that my loved ones have contacted me after they passed away to let me know they are okay?

1. On my grandfathers obituary page in 1991, on ALL papers that were bought (I bought about 30 of them), there is a pinkish stain that looks ot once like a soldier saluting (he was a veteran of WW2), and on the other the Virgin Mary holding Jesus. Those stains have not since disappeared.

2. On the other hand, my aunt who passed away three years ago: I have a lose picture of her that has NEVER moved from its spot in the three years. Yet on the day my mother found out she was re-hired for a month stint at a law firm she worked at with her sister at 30 years ago, that picture came down from the shelf and landed on the dining room table. My aunt's picture was put back up and again came down again on my mother's final day at the law firm.

Continuation of 2: The picture has not come down before or since those two times in three years.

These I see as signs from my loved ones that they are okay. But I'm Christian as well, and for this I will be damned as it seems to be termed divination?

Seems at odds to me, to be damned if my relatives love me and just want to let me know everything is okay.

Thoughts and your experiences?

My mom became a touch reluctant in the starting up and then began asking questions six months later even as she said my sister and that i have been doing more suitable positive than before. interior many years she became examining lots and declared herself pagan. many years later and he or she stumbled on that heathenism is the position she's stated as, like my sister and that i. So it worked out - residing our lives and residing more suitable positive (no longer less complicated, yet spiritually and emotionally more suitable positive) led her to ask the questions she had pushed again about Christianity. Now, my minister cousin and family members is a diverse tale. they have VERY selective ideas even as it includes remembering that we are no longer Christian and that i'm no longer right now. i do not push even as i'm vacationing. I attend church, I help out with church activities and do not remind them of stuff which could reason significant pressure and damage the courting. it truly is only less complicated, he's the in reality family members we've left. With my veteran team - i do not announce my faith. i do not hide it and that i do not announce it. So, end result - i favor to live to inform the tale all of them! LOL

So you are saying that you are willing to believe your interpretation of a stain and a picture falling over your interpretation of the Bible? I'm not sure I understand... but that's what it seems like your saying.
Regardless, if you are interpreting these things as your family contacting you, I wonder how you are interpreting that they are telling you that they are ok.

You see my big problem with your interpretation is that it is based on feelings you possess. Not on any type of real evidence that would make you think what you think. In other words, it sounds like you are choosing what you want to believe. In other words it's really no different than choosing not to believe in the Bible because evolution suits you more than the Biblical account of creation. Or choosing to not believe in God because you don't like the idea of judgment.

Maybe I've completely misunderstood your question though...

Personally, these signs do not convince be of any supernatural influence, but if you believe they do, that's fine.

No, I don't think this is at odds with your devotion to Christianity. Christianity accepts the existence of the soul, the afterlife, angels, and divine intervention, correct? And these are good things, right? So maybe it was an angel that sent these signs to you, at the request of your departed relatives. Therefore, it was done with God's knowledge and blessing.

Also, sin lies in the INTENTION to do evil... if you did not summon these signs, did not look for them until they happened, then how can you be blamed for their appearance? You did not invoke spirits... the spirit/soul of the departed contacted you.

Like I said, I don't believe in any of it anyway, but I'm just trying to walk you through the logic of it. If you're really concerned, ask your church leader.

There are other dimensions beyond the physical. Thought and energy have forms in these dimensions; the deceased can communicate, and do communicate with the living. It happens everyday. The people who say it can't happen just aren't aware of it. Be glad you are.

(P.S. Demons, shmemons: demons are a load of cow manure.)

coincidences happen all the time. On the day that I graduated from goldsmithing school I found a diamond on the floor of my father's studio, yet he said he hadn't lost any diamonds. Coincisence.....I think Not LOL

You're not guilty of divination, because you didn't becon the spirits to come forth. Saint Hildegard Von Bingen appeared to three nuns after she died. The nuns had doubted God's work in Hildegard's life. God allowed her to appear to them after her death to show them that the visions that God had given to her were real. And the Catholic Church has approved appiritions of both Jesus and Mary after they had left us on earth. And remember in the Bible, that Jesus appeared to his disciples after he had died and risen? And what about Moses appearing to Jesus in the New Testament? Moses had been dead a looong time, but still appeared to Jesus, along with Aaron or Elijah (I don't remember which one). So it happens. Just as long as you don't try to conjure their spirits, you're not doing anything wrong.

My dad is (or was) an agnostic or an atheist (one of the two). After his mother died, he saw her again. After ten years he admitted this to my mother, and my mother admitted to him that she had seen her the same night. My dad has seemed to soften a little regarding spirtual issues, which is something I never thought would happen, ever. Anyway, my grandmother appeared radiant to my dad. But to my mother, who is a Christian, appeared hunched over (she had osteoperosis) and definately not radiant. My theory is that she appeared to my dad in radiant form to show him there is an afterlife, and a heaven. I think she might have appeared non-radiant to my mother to urge my mother to pray for her (because my theory is, she was in purgatory). My mother doesn't believe in purgatory though. So, maybe I should be the one praying for my grandmother.

Anyway, my point is that it happens. It happened in the Bible. There are accounts of saints appearing after death to people. So it happens. Just don't try to bring them back yourself :) And you weren't doing that anyway. So it's okay :)

Oh, I also wanted to add, that only those who are in heaven and maybe purgatory can appear to people on earth. People who are in hell will not appear. That's why in Luke 16:23-31 those people couldn't appear to us on earth. But the Bible has several accounts of people appearing to us from heaven (not merely angels, but people who had lived before us, like Moses).

A lot of Christianity involves mysticism if you pay attention closely. There is nothing wrong with that. I know pastors who read tarot decks and I know witches who won't touch them. Nothing is "forbidden" except by what is restricted by people in charge of those religions.
