Only devices that automatically change their internal clocks in the spring and fall will be "screwed up", and the manufacturers of these devices, for the most part, are offering free patches to account for the change. In all cases, the manufacturers had to take a switch standard to daylight time into account, and all they have to do is tweak the algorithm a bit.
As for other devices, such as VCR's, microwaves, cameras, watches, etc that require you to change the time manually: what's the difference if you have to do it in March or April? Yes, they thought about the impact on industry, and determined that it was minimal. So don't make a big deal over something that isn't a big deal.
