I think my natural reaction would be to get out as fast as I could.

Hmm, well this isn't a guess, but its not the full answer either. Don't "get out as fast as you can," as electricity can outrun you. Also, don't tell anyone to touch the car because they will be crispy when they are done. I wouldn't touch the wire either, as there is a ton of voltage, and you'll never live to make the same mistake twice when it comes to that.
I remember someone saying when you get out of the car, your supposed to jump out, without touching the car when you land, and try to land with both feet at the same time, that way the electric flow in your body, if any, will not go through one half of your body, but evenly distribute it and do less damage to your body. I remember that from like 5th grade science class I think, but wait to see what others answer.
The reason you jump out without touching the car is for obvious reasons, if you touch the car and step onto the ground, you are dead. You would have just grounded probably 10,000 volts and the paramedic will need a dustpan and broom.
All in all, number 3 is right, call the police and fire department and all that fun stuff and get someone that knows what they're doing to help you, the other stuff is suicide.

#1 could be fatal if you simultaneously made contact with the car and the ground; #2 would be fatal to the bystanders; and in #4 it is not likely that "any" "handy" object might possess the electrical properties of a high-voltage insulator, so the answer is definitely #3. It's not fool proof, but offers the highest chance of survival. I hope this method of research didn't violate the ground rules for your paper. Good luck.

You should remain in the car and ask bystanders to call the Police/Emergency services (That is if you cannot Telephone yourself). The car's shape is roughly that of a cage, and that shape is what protects you from lighting if your car was hit. Getting out will kill you, asking bystanders to remove car from under wire would kill them... and pushing the wire will result in death, as most LIVE wires are of a voltage so high that it would kill you even if you used something rubbery.
Hope this has helped,
S.O.

The correct answer is to stay in the car and ask for someone to call for help. No one outside should touch the car. The car could be electrically hot from touching the live wire. Anyone touching the car and the ground at the same time will be electrocuted.

Number 3 is the correct answer. Stay in the car and call for help, but nobody standing on the ground should touch it while wire is still live. You are fine inside.

Don't ask a bystander to help you. That will shock the bystander. You should get out of the car carefully as possible-without touching the wire.

You are safer in the automobile. The rubber tires help to insulate the auto from grounding the entire care. If there wasn't something there to impede the flow of the electricity than it would electrify the whole car and everything within it.
Call for emergency services. They will send the power company to shut off electricity than rescures can attend to occupant in vehicle.
When waiting for help, do not try to start car or touch anything at all. Your seat is partly insulated.

Stay! You may actually be at high voltage and that is OK. Getting out could turn you into a conductor of the voltage to ground. That's when you start smoking (and I don't mean cigs!)
So, #3.

As soon as your foot hits the ground, it is likely you will become a direct path to ground for the electricity. Translation: you will be barbecued. Stay put and call for help. No phone? stay put and wait.

Of the choices you present, stay in the car. I would prefer to drive away from under it though, although if that's not possible stay in the vehicle.
