I don't know if it's illegal, but it definitly pisses Canadians off. The reason our prescription drugs are so cheap is because they're subsidized by our TAX DOLLARS. If you want to pay taxes and in return, get cheaper pharmaceuticals, you're more than welcome to move to Canada. It is hypocritical that many Americans take advantage of our government-subsidized healthcare system, then when other Americans suggest a similar system in the US, they call them liberals as if it's an insult. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

I suggest you review the Food & Drug Administration's policies towards drug importation from Canada and other countries.

Apparently, some states have passed laws (Vermont for example) making it illegal to import drugs from other countries.

According to Canadian requirements, I believe that pharmacies here in Canada are not supposed to fill prescriptions for Americans without a valid doctor's reference and reason for purchasing in Canada. However, I have heard of several companies that offer pharmaceuticals online without checking for references. I would not necessarily trust their products however...80% of the spam I get is for these online pharmacies, and I have heard some are substituting actual drugs for placebos. Anything to make a profit.

There was an interesting story on the news a few months back about a few old age homes located along the border that were making trips via shuttlebus up here and having their seniors get their prescriptions filled up here. This is because prices are anywhere from 1/2 to 1/4 the cost of the same medication in the US.
