I thought Jesus was God's son?

If he is God then:
Who was he sacrificed to?
How come Jesus prays to God?

When Jesus was on the cross he said" Father, why hast thou forsaken me?". If He was God himself, then why would He have said that? Was He praying to Himself and asking Himself for help? Of course not. I'm going to get thumbs downs for saying this because it makes some people uncomfortable to hear that the one we love so much is not equal to the Father and is not our Creator, but I'm going with what Jesus said and I say He was a chosen son and not God our Creator. God the father created us and He created Jesus Christ.
Jesus is not God. He is the son of God. He never claimed to be God, but some of his followers loved him so much that over the years slowly, he's been raised to God like status. It's human nature to create Gods out of the admired, but it's not the truth.

"Webbofin" (4 answers below) and "Miranda J" (7 answers below) get it right too. I'm so glad to see that there are other Christians who don't just blindly accept someone's interpretation. We must remember that the Church used to insist that the earth is flat and anyone who'd say it was round would be considered blasphemous and a heretic.

You need to understand the trinity. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God the Son(Jesus) is begotten of the Father who is unbegotten. God the Son is not The Father. He prayed to the father in heaven. In John 14:9-11 Jesus said:

"Philip, don't you even yet know who I am, even after all the time I have been with you? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking to see him? Dont you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I say are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me. Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of what you have seen me do."

You have heard the the expression "Like father like son" right, Jesus is the unique son of god. He is of the Father. Thats why he is called God the Son. He existed even before he was born to Mary.

Jesus is the Son of God but by virtue of the sacrifice he made and the fact that no one can reach God, the Father, except through Jesus Christ he has inherited all that God the Father has and therefore has been given the right to be called God as well. He is God the Son. He prays to God the Father. Very straight forward and obvious to anyone who reads ALL of the Bible and not just a few passages that by themselves seem to confuse the issue.

Most Christians believe in a Trinity. God the Father, Jesus His Son, and the Holy Spirit. All 3 are 1. I don't agree with this. God is God and Jesus is His Son (in this girls honest opinion).

No, Jesus was the begotten Son of God.
Jesus proved loyal to his father - being loyal to yourself is hardly a sacrifice.
Jesus died - if he didn't then his death was a fake.
God resurrected Jesus. If God did that then he couldn't of died. Then we go back to the did he die or was it a fake paradox.

Jesus is not God. It is the great apostasy of the churches that teach that. They also teach that God is a merciless torturer by creating a fiery hell of torment. The Bible says that God is love. Jesus taught us love and mercy. God is a reflection of that.
The priest tell the loved ones when a young child dies that it is God's responsibility "that God wanted another angel."
These are all lies and besmirch the true God.

Jesus is alive and well. Jesus is God in the flesh. Before Jesus came to this world no one saw God in person. I am sure that you have heard of the Trinity. That is the Godhead. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, each is His own entity, but with the same attributes.

Your right man, Jesus is God's son. The only way to God is through Jesus Christ.

Read your bible first:

He was not sacrificed, he sacrificed himself.

The trinity principle just means that in essence they are one, even though they were different manifestations.

First Jesus was human living a human live, beside being god's son, following the religion of his people praying to his father.
