I don't really have a definite favorite. I usually choose non-diet Coke and Dr. Pepper. But here are my favorites of each category:
*These are only non-diet sodas! I'd rather get fat from sugar in regular beverages than get cancer from whatever the hell is in those toxic diet drinks.*
Cola: Coca-Cola
Lemon-Lime: Sierra Mist
Orange: Sunkist
Root Beer: TIE: I.B.C. & a sarsaparilla I drank at Goldfield Ghost Town, an old Western attraction roughly 40 miles northeast of Phoenix (I forgot its name).
Citrus: Mountain Dew Baja Blast
Dr. Soda: TIE: Dr. Pepper & Mr. Pibb
Newfangled Soda: Jones Brand - a brand that distributes Fu Fu Berry, Bubble Gum, Blue Raspberry Lemonade, Green Apple, and Cream sodas. I don't know if Jones is available all over the United States, but it sold in glass bottles for a buck in most Arizona supermarkets.
Grape: Minute-Maid Grape when it was still being sold.
Fruit Punch: Gotta hand it to Hawaiian Punch!
