my daughter is 1 and her room is princess themed. I painted all the walls sky blue. I bought Tinkerbell grass border to go on the bottom and a huge castle sticker all sold at Lowes. After that I manually painted Princes Angelina on the wall with pink paint and I have al the princesses walkin on the grass. On the Walls I also painted stars and other neat designs. I bought her also all the Disney T.V., DVD, and stereo. It look really beautiful. If I had a pic I would show it!

painting the entire room pink will not make it seem small. what makes a room seem small is when there is a sharp contrast between main furniture colors and wall colors--This creates an illusion of clutter and confinement. light pink is a open, airy color and should work well, especially if the ceiling is either white or a shade of pink that is paler than the walls. try to find furniture that is either white, pale pink, or a light pink/mauve or pink/lavender or a light silvery gray.
something i saw once that might work for your space: A little girls princess room had a 4 poster bed, and each of the posts was actually a circular tube (about 8" diameter) that was painted white and topped with a pink pointed roof so that it looked like a castle tower. there were little arched windows painted on the sides of each tower. Then there was a thin rod between all the towers near the tops and a white gauzy swag draped between the towers on the rods; kind of like a canopy bed, but with no roof.with a light gray paint, you could paint faux "stone bricks" around the window and door and closet frames to make them seem like castle walls. Glue faux gemstones and strings of pearls on the lampshades. get her a comforter in a shimmery metallic silver fabric. Maybe a faux sheepskin or polar bear skin rug. and a small "crystal" chandelier for a light fixture.

Painting the whole room light pink won't make the room look small. If you feel that it is, then i suggest faux painting the pink onto the white walls, or even a lavender. If you feel that will take too much time, you can add a little pizzazz by stripe painting the walls. Also, you could probably paint the knobs on her dresser, toy box, desk, etc. the color of the walls, or the complimentary color for accent.

At 3 day blinds they have Cinderella, Snow White, and Belle blinds, or custom color blinds that you can consider.

Good luck!

Remember to keep the color NEUTRAL!!! Think pastels (just a hint of pink), add your own accessories. Since the room is small to begin with don't use any dark colored paint, keep it light!! I recommend adding colorful bright pink rugs or cute fringy lamp shades or princess figurines, etc.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you ever move, a lot of what you paint will more than likely have to be redone. Children grow up and people change, so does furniture--keep it neutral.

I do not recommend painting all of the walls in your daughter bedroom. When she becomes older she more than likely will want to repaint. Paint on every wall can also make a room ‘feel’ smaller. I do suggest adding a splash of color to one wall. For example, paint one wall a beautiful rose hue and add a matching area rug.

Adding themed artwork to a wall can create a focal point in the room. For those wanting a simple design, a painted wall along with artwork will create a very nice themed bedroom for your daughter. If you are artistic you can make a creative painting just for your princess (a great idea for those on a budget)! Buy a canvas (appropriately sized for your space) and paint a whimsical portrait of your daughter dressed as a princess. You can also stencil in designs (i.e. crowns, words).
