I hate when people start talking about global warming!!! I know it's obvious that the earth is warming, but give me a break. There is no evidence to even prove that global warming exists!!!!!!!!!! The earth is just going through a climate change. Why is global warming such a hot topic??

how i envey the bliss of ignorence enjoyed by so many ,
but for how long can one have his head in the sand ,before noticing that your a**s is on fire

Is global warming a man-made menace?

not all there are natural cycles in the planets life
but a lot is influenced by mans existance ,and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms

some home truths

politicians and scientists who work for politicians have downplayed the facts because solutions are expensive and means change and change effects many people income, and most of the world is kept in the dark of the real things that are going on.

in North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification

in recent times thousands of people have died because of exessive heat, usually old people.in India ,Mexico and France,
deforestation causing desertification, the desert conditions causing very cold nights and scorching hot days

in china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert, the globe where they were got to hot for them .
and instead of producing food they are now needing it from some where else, and they will drastically effect the world food prices when they start buying water in the form of grains ,at any cost destabalising governments, in some countries ,could be the result
(are you seeing more Chinese around interested in agricultural lands ,we do here in Mexico)

,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and all of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were no desserts.

collectively this planet is drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,

as far as the food production is concerned, Global warming or some of its effects are serious, rising seas result in landloss

each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

more landloss because of desertification every year,we have less areble land to produce food ,for an extra 70 million people ,

and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
who are overpumping deep carbon aquifiers
who are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,
because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary or over grazing

RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
this does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.but the melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.

Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,

At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.

SOLUTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to reverse the destructive processes

reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.

the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.

the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia

Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.

the protection of existing forrests.

stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.

education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.

education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´populaion

Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.

more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks

,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour

alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine

recicling wastes,limit water use

It's such a hot topic because people won't shut up about it. Mainly the drive by media and all of their leftist buddies. If nobody said anything about a world wide increase in temperature, nobody would even notice. There are places all over the US that are going through hard times because of heavy snow and ice and record low temperatures, but you wont hear about that. but the second there is a record high in some small town, it's gonna be all over the news on how global warming caused it. It makes me sick to hear people remotely believing that global warming exists. I bet Al Gore and the leftists could run around screaming about global cooling and get their selective evidence to "prove" it and everybody would believe that. But they wouldn't do that because that wouldn't go good with the whole "we're burning too many fossil fuels" idea. And what makes me more sick, is when a sixteen year old kid(me) is more informed and self thinking than adults who follow the media and practice the global warming religion.

Well, which is it? You say that "its obvious that the earth is warming" and then you say "There is no evidence that global warming exists"

When you exhibit that kind of mental confusion it is probable that you lack the intellectual equipment required to understand a detailed explanation of global warming and why everyone is "making such a big deal" about it.

Global Warming does exist. There is evidence in everything we do and everything we see that it is true. Have a look at Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" - it is well documented and supported by world renowned scientists. You cannot tell me (or anyone else for that matter) that the climate change is the sole result of evolution - it's more likely to be only part of it. But a lot of it is a result of our mismanagement of the worlds resources and our inability to deal with pollution and pollutants.

okay, its such a problem cause dumb asses like you wont accept the obvious fact that global warming exists

yes the earth is going through climate changes, we've established that, but did the earth go through climate changes before we started poluting? NO, besides the ice age which wasnt caused by polution

we know we are poluting, this climate change is caused by the weakening of the o-zone, and we know that, why wont you accept that because WE are poluting, its effecting the o-zone?

There's plenty of evidence. All over the web, one site is below.

You have to decide whether to believe: 1. a relatively few scientists and non-scientists, mostly with marginal credentials, making simple assertions with little data and no peer reviewed scientific papers to back them up or 2. Most all of the world's climatologists with extensive data, peer reviewed analyses, and peer reviewed scientific articles like this:

http://www.ipcc.ch/SPM2feb07.pdf and many other sites.

You have to decide whether 1. The great majority of the world's climatologists are wrong, neglect obvious natural causes, are faking data to make money, or are an engaged in an enormous conspiracy or 2. a few people with different ideas are wrong.

You have to decide whether 1. The people below are so stupid as to be fooled by bad science or 2. they have listened to all viewpoints from the best scientists in the world and have made a decision that goes contrary to their conservative instincts.

"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."

James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.

"The overwhelming majority of atmospheric scientists around the world and our own National Academy of Sciences are in essential agreement on the facts of global warming and the significant contribution of human activity to that trend."

Russell E. Train, Republican, former environmental official under Presidents Nixon and Ford

"We simply must do everything we can in our power to slow down global warming before it is too late. The science is clear. The global warming debate is over."

John McCain, Republican, Senator, Arizona

"These technologies will help us become better stewards of the environment - and they will help us to confront the serious challenge of global climate change."

President George Bush

It seems like an easy choice to me. I believe in science, not conspiracies. I believe we went to the moon and I believe global warming is real.

And we need to worry about it. Relocating coastal people and facilities, and adjusting agriculture and building irrigation systems would cost enough to cause an economic depression.

So it is a big deal.

Maybe not all people like KURT try to hide the problem would rather have it solved and it can be.

Sorry BUT I NOTICE THE INCREASE IN TEMPERATURES... when I was a kid we used to play in the snow where I live... we had white christmas... where has it all gone ?
And my orchards are all sick of parasites that didn´t exist in the past and were killed by the frost...
And since we have warm winter days, the trees blossom too early and then the frost kills the flowers.
And last winter I saw in november flowers that normaly only blossom around march... first time I see it in my life... IT´S JUST SICK !!!.

By the way, other people having orchards heavily affected by global warming ???

There is Global Warming already started. Whether it be by nature or man, makes no difference.
The ocean levels will rise affecting low or coastal regions of the world. That means that entire cities will flood & can stay flooded for 1 yr. or 1000 yrs., no one knows. What happens to the people living in those places? They will have to relocate. We will have problems providing food for all of these millions of people & to make matters worse, the world is running out of fresh water! G.E. has started a desalination plant but you can bet that if it works you are going to pay plenty for the water unless the government takes it over, also lacking fresh water will affect the growing of crops to feed all of these dislocated people.
Many people will die, we won't be able to save everyone. It is a Big Deal!

Possibly because they will be alive when the effects become more severe and you don't care because you won't be there, or at least think that. Of course, if the 'o' is just a gender identifier, then as a fish, you are all in favour of global warming since it gives you more territory.

Global warming is the effect of the ozone layer of the earth depleting because of carbon dioxide, which is the leftover material from fossils, which are used for fuel. The fossils, which have kept carbon dioxide inside the body for millions of years, just put the carbon dioxide back into the air. So, when you drive your car, or use too much fuel in the home, you are just putting the fossils carbon dioxide back into the air. That means that in the next 200 or so years, the sun's UV rays are going to damage the Earth, and humans. That means everybody is going to have skin cancer, sun burns, every kind of skin condition in the world.

I'd say we do have some evidence we are cuasing....we don't have proof we are the only reason.

Its more or less even if its not our fault entirely....The climate is still gonna get worse. WE could possibly do things to counteract it.

I do believe we are causing it, but i dont' worry, cuz i'm into business and i think if you plan right...can make a lot of money out of htis.
