Ok so I am getting a car soon and I am wondering how much it costs to get a car, insurance (roughly), registration, and anything else I am forgetting. What would the total "start up" costs be. Oh and the car payment is about 250 a month. Thanks.

here is a breakdown:

price = price of car + tax +title and license + dealer fees.

the last two can sometimes be optional if you haggle enough. the dealer might charge 100-200 dollars for title and license fees which will cover the cost of registration.
so your most unclear cost at this point is insurance. when you find a car you like, write down the VIN and call insurance companies to get some quotes. i did this when buying my car. you can even get the VINs from online car shopping at autotrader.com or cars.com and use it to get a quote. when you use the VIN, it gives a closer quote because it lists all the equipment that comes on that model.

Meah, I pay $275 a month for a 2004 **** box Cavalier for 4 years-buying out vehicle not leasing. My insurance is like close to 200 bills a month (I’m under 25) Plus once a year the government rips you for close 100 bucks for license renewals,
e-tests cost 35 bucks, gas well we all know that aint cheap, plus the cost for vehicle maintenance just keeps on risin too! Some (GM) shop rates are up to $107 an hour

I would figure around 500 but up to a 1000 to take care of all the extra bs, depending how much initial maintenance it needs and whether you plan on paying for the insurance premium in full or make payments, etc.
