It takes 3,500 calories to make 1 pound in body weight.....All you need to do to reduce your body weight is reduce your daily intake by about 500 calories & you will lose on average around 1 pound per week.....it depends however what your starting weight is....the more you weigh the more weight you will lose to start with......however as your weight drops so you will need to lower your calorie consumption accordingly......so if you are cutting your calories then yes you will reduce your weight, but it will come to a stand still at some point....increasing your exercises also increases the body weight loss....working with weights is ideal as it tones plus uses more calories as muscle needs extra calories to function........
idealy you should be eating around 5 or 6 small meals throughout the day as this gets your metabolism working better plus helps you to not get too hungry in between meals.....I'm talking meals of around 250 - 300 calories each.....
To be successful at weight loss & keep it off you really need to do some research & educate yourself on it some.......good luck though....

First of all visit the sites below it has more tips for losing weight. Don't skip breakfast! Many people do because they don't feel they need to eat breakfast, or they just don't feel hungry first thing in the morning. Research shows that people who skip breakfast are usually fatter than those who eat a well balanced breakfast. Although you might not feel hungry first thing in the morning, if you skip breakfast you will feel extra hungry come lunch time, making you more prone to overeating for your afternoon meal. In addition, skipping breakfast makes your body think that you are starving. After all, by lunch time, you may not have eaten in almost eighteen hours. For the rest of the day after you skip breakfast, your body will store up most of the energy you get from food, instead of allowing you to burn it, in anticipation of food scarcity. Not only will this cause you to be tired during the day when your body isn't using the food that you ate, but the extra energy stored up will result in weight gain.

If you eat smaller portions of what you usually do, you will see little shange - i learned that the hard way... Try doing 50 push ups, sit ups, crunches, butt crunches, and stick with the portioning. Do this every morning and evening, and by the end of a seven day week, you should lose some where between 2-4 pounds.

You should have the biggest meal of the day for lunch--that way you can burn it off. But just because you eat small doesn't mean you will lose weight...you have to EXCERCISE!
