I recently saw a documentary where a creationist believer was speaking to an auditorium filled with children and said God, not scientists or man, has been around forever so only believe what God says.
That sent chills up my spine to see our children being taught to not seek factual evidence that could lead to different answers than God...just do what you're told.
"God" is a powerful name, read the Bible and replace the name God with Floyd, it may make a difference when you're told that because something in life isn't understood or can't be explained...it's Floyd's work. Would you live you're life according to Floyd?
Why not teach faith and practice in fairness, honesty, kindness, forgiveness, hard work, compassion, charity, integrity and all the other wonderful values that the Bible speaks of and encourage children to explore and discover answers to questions that haven't even been asked yet?

Actually, the Bible says something quite simuilar; in 1-Thessalonians 5:21 we read: "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." (KJV; NWT says "Make sure of all things....")

Why is it wrong when Christians teach that the proven laws of the universe point to a creator, or at least can't disprove the existence of God? Why is it okay for athiests to throw up evey unproven theory and illogical hypothesis as irrefutible proof that God doesn't exist?

I am sure that these children are being taught all the other things that you have mentioned. Evolution was taught in school before it was proved, is still taught and is only a theory. Creationists don't fear telling kids to trust God, because trusting in God will lead to true facts in archaeology. Evolutionists tend to hide facts that don't agree with them.

Hell, people don't even use the "search" function on this very website. If people used it to find already-posted questions before posting them again, this place would be a lot cleaner. There must be a dozen Pascal's Wager questions here every hour, and at least one "3 people go to a hotel..." riddle in the math section every day.

Because if they taught like that, they wouldn't be extremists, and then the whole world might not hate the rest of us Christians, and who wants that!
Plus, preachers who teach like this are not looking for smart intellectual people, they are looking for blind sheep that have no direction and are willing to do and beleive whatever they are told.

These idiots that claim the buy-bull is the word of god are stupid.
Did anyone see Him write it? Do you have proof of His handwriting? Makes no sense at all.

Those that follow creationism are a branch of Christianity that want total control of its followers...mind, body, soul, and pocketbook. They prey upon a person's emotional connection to their faith, and their lack of understanding of science, for money and power.
