During a sneeze, the impulses that travel through your face cause your eyelids to blink. This response is entirely automatic. There's nothing you can do about it. Sneezing puts a lot of pressure on your head and respiratory system, so blinking is a protective mechanism.
It is a myth that they will pop out, the pressure is not enough to pop your eyes out of your head or even make them bulge out.

A sneeze is a defence mechanism that your body automatically does.
Basically a sneeze is you bodies first line of defence when it thinks it is being invaded by an outside source entering through your nose or mouth.
Caused by your diaphram contracting voilently and forcing the air in your lungs to expell at many times normal speed. you may also notice that you tend to curl slightly whilst you sneeze. This is again a reaction to your diaphram contracting and eases the stress on your abdomin and internal organs during that action. Your eyes close to stop any infection that is discharged through your nose and mouth re-entering through your eyes.
It's natural and automatic you cannot stop it happening. unless you hold you eyelids open with something. But don't worry your eyes will not "pop" out of your head. They are firmly supported in the sockets.
Hope this helps

A sneeze is basically a shotgun spray of water containing dust, bacteria and virus particles. The eyes are very vulnerable to infection. It makes sense that they'd close during a sneeze, but its not 'impossible' to keep them open. I've seen someone do it before.
And no, they don't pop out!

It`s not " impossible " to sneeze with your eye`s open ! there is people out there who can actually keep their eyes open while they sneeze , putting a stop to the theory that " your eye`s will pop out " .
in the majority of people though it is just an automatic reaction that our eye`s close !

it is one of many of our inborn protective mechanisms, it's like coughing if water goes into your trachea, or pulling quickly away from a heat source. In other words, it's your brain on auto pilot.
