I think it's something to do with the bodies natural thermostat. It works on the theory that when you drink a hot drink your body heats up. In hot weather maybe this hot drink is enough to take your internal body temperature higher than it should be and natural processes take over. A rise in temperature triggers sweating and dilation of the arterioles*, running close to the skin, and your body begins to lose heat.
Although despite this I think you're probably better off with a nice cold drink with plenty of ice!
*small diameter blood vessels that extends and branches out from an artery and leads to capillaries

I am not sure if you feel cooler in yourself but having a hot drink sets of your body cooling system and makes you sweat so your body is being cooled, so the answer is Yes.

yes it is true, the body has ingested a hot substance, therefore its internal thermostat kicks in and begins to cool it down to normal body temperature. But if you drink a cold drink your thermostat feels cold therefore starts to warm you up. However your body will always be resetting to keep your body at the correct teperature.

I would never be crazy enough to try that. I live in Arizona and drink cold beverages to make my self cooler. But to each his own, I guess.

Apparently so. The blood seems to heat up and the outside or ambient temperature does not seem so hot.

yes because as it cools down it cools you from the inside out, and therefore makes you cooler.

sure... just like farmers you see that where long sleeve shirts... keeping the shirts on soaks up the sweat which cause it to become cooler.
