I'm going out for dinner tonight, and I have a sore on the side of my tongue from biting it in my sleep, so I'm not sure if one of these dishes will irritate it.:

1) Smothered chicken with garlic potatos
2) Chicken and pasta
3) Burger and garlic fries

Which do you think I should order? Or should I go for something else? (We'll be eating at Apple Bee's, by the way.)

Go with the chicken and pasta. Here's why; If you eat something with a lot of salt on the outside, like fries for instance, the salt has a good chance of irritating the sore. Have you ever gotten salt on a cut? IT STINGS LIKE HE**, so just be careful.

Anything too salty or acidic will most likely cause you discomfort. Tomato products (as well as orange products) are high in acid, so stay away from tomato sauces and orange juices temporarily. There are also some beverages out there with high salt/acid content that might irritate your tongue as well.

You can always pop a Tylenol and/or rub something like Anbesol on your tongue to help deaden the pain some so you don't look like a cow eating hay! LOL!

Good luck!

P.S. The mashed potatoes there are THE BOMB!

I'd pick the chicken and pasta. Pasta is smooth and chicken is good plus it doesent have irritating sauces and garlic.

Order what you like and after tasting it if it bothers your tongue tell the waitress that it just doesn't taste right and ask to order something else.

This may work once but I doubt if it will work the second time - so select your second choice wisely!

Take a couple of ibuprofen 20 minutes prior to going out.

Everything will hurt...

I'd do the chicken and pasta.

Id go with the chicken and pasta. I think that has the least amount of sodium in it.

I think these 3 dishes are fine. Just chew and bite slowly, so you don't bite your tongue again. Have a nice dinner ;)
