I don't worry about it. I think it's possible that He created through evolution. It really doesn't bother me too much. However, I'm an old-earth creationist, so my opinion probably isn't the one you're looking for.

in some peoples mind this would mean that human beings are not a special thing created in "god's image" therefore evolution and the observed age of the earth is to be rejected

So.. he nudged evolution along?
Give me a break. Evolution exists because scientists just like all men want to find a way to escape God and his judgement (and their guilt). Darwin gave finally gave them the out they were looking for and they have been sticking their heads in the ground farther and farther ever since.
DNA was designed.
Period.
unless of course you would be barely surprised to walk on a beach and find a 1000 computers running that came there by the bumping of the waves against the beach.. it can HAPPEN!
Evolutionists are dreamers and imagineers, not scientists.

People believe what they are told to believe, unless they have the capacity to understand otherwise. This is true for creationists AND evolutionists. Not all of creation is beautiful to humans -- some things are disgustingly gross. I think God has a great sense of humor and is amused by these petty squabblings....

Not at all. I think He is more saddened that people who call themselves believers trust the flawed wisdom of man over His Word. Shouldn't it be a clue that Christ Himself spoke of the creation as an actual event, I mean, after all, He was there.
Mar 10:6 But from the beginning of creation "God made them male and female." Gen. 1:27
Mar 13:19 for there will be affliction in those days, such as has not been the like from the beginning of creation which God created until now, and never will be.
Mat 19:4 But answering, He said to them, Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning "created them male and female"? Gen. 1:27

No I do not. No where in the Bible does it claim that evolution is true. in fact it claims the opposite. that God created everything how it is and thought it was good

Sweetie, any one who thinks the earth is 6000 years old does not have the intelligence to use common sense. Your question is wasted on them.
