~ Both place their lives in danger.
~ Both protect lives and property.
~ Both wear protective clothing associated with their duties.
~ Both go home with a sense of accomplishment in helping others who are less fortunate.
~ Both have a unique job related "stress"
~ Both have a tight "brotherhood" associated with their professions.

In contrast ...

~ Training is different.
~ Basic missions are two different professions. (Although as a police officer I've fought fires on numerous occasions.
~ Fire protective services conduct building code and fire inspections.
