The Big Bear Discovery Center is a place that features "fun while learning" activities. You can enjoy exhibits or films, or join in on planned activities. The Big Bear Discovery Center's website is: http://www.bigbeardiscoverycenter.net/whatsnew.html
You could also go on short family hikes. There are some trails near the Serrano public campgrounds that are flat, easy & short.

There is a great little zoo up there right next to Bear Mountain Ski Resort. The Big Bear Valley Recreaction and Parks District runs the zoo and several other programs for children.
Have fun!
