If you lose 5 pounds in a day, you are likely just losing water weight. Water weight is quite variable and is very sensitive to the amount of sodium and other salts you consume. If you go multiple days in a row like this, I would be worried and see a doctor about it.

In general though, 5 pounds a day is a MASSIVE weight loss should be monitored by a physician. That kind of real weight loss will probably only happen due to gastric bypass surgery or something similar.

Um. Well your weight does fluctuate that much in a day but if its happening every day then i don't think that's healthy. You should lose about a pound a week if your trying.
My suggestion would be that you didn't really lose 5 pounds- that's just you at a different time of the day or maybe one time you weighed yourself and you had drank a lot of water and the other time you hadn't.
If you are losing 5 pounds every day though i would go to a doctor.

what time are you weighing your self??
you are always 5 pounds lighter when you wake up than when you go to bed.
if you weigh your self in the morning when you wake and then the same exact time the next morning, this will give you a more accurate telling of any weight lost. if you wake on the second morning and you have lost 5 pounds...yeah, that may not be good!

are you sure you're not using a defective scale?

it's not healthy to lose 5lbs a day...actually, it's not even healthy to lose more than 2lbs a week

you should ask yoour doctor.but he'll/she'll just say it's the way your body works. if you find yourself a little too skinny than go to your doctor
