well, in a sense, yes.
yet the kind of fasting i did, was a fast from doing what is bad in the eyes of god.
true enough, fasting can be an effective practice, but it of itself, is nothing, without the underlying understanding.
the type of fasting, that i think god trult appreciates, is the fasting, or cessation of practicing sin.
so, when a thief, stops stealing, or an adulterer stops commiting adultery, or a drunkard stops drinking, these are the fasts that are truly fruitful.
The simple bible verse that tells us that bad association spoils useful habits, is perhaps one of the most empowering scriptures in the bible. it is empowering in that, when we put this into practice, we are admitting are humility, and are subjecting ourselves to gods words.
this type of fasting is how i finally broke free from a 20 year recurring drug abuse problem. i can not take credit for it, it was the power of god's words, that made it possible.
