Because we have points of view when it comes to religion and spirituality. You think I have to be a Christian to know something about Christianity or the Christian perspective?
Do you have to be a chef in order to share recipes? Do you have to be a meteorologist in order to have an opinion on the weather or to know when it's raining?
If I'm not allowed to chime in on "what I'm not", then why is it that you get to have ANY say as to atheists and what they do? You're not an atheist...... what makes you think you get to throw in your 2 cents and gripe about atheists when at the same time you don't think atheists should do the same when it comes to R&S?

There are more of us here every day. Get used to it. Sorry if you feel the R&S sandbox is yours personally....well, not really sorry. But I do empathize with your discomfort at having us here.
That is a fairly rude question actually, accusing us of hatred, rudeness and ignorance. Fairly typical of the blinkered dogmatic blather that many so called Christians post here.
Our role is to shine the bright light of reason on the dark dingy little corners of faith, so that the ACTUAL truth will become apparent to you. We are genuinely concerned that you are wasting you life, your talent, your energy in the pointless pursuit and worship of non-existent deities. We think that religious belief has held back the human race, and that while it has done some good, overall it has had a negative effect on humanity. Religious belief is atavistic, it had a purpose and offered some benefit in evolutionary terms, but is has outlived its usefullness.
Religion is the appendix of philosophy. Vestigial, purposeless, and may be harmful.
That is why there are a lot of atheists here. We are far more common than you may think. We are educated, intelligent, and have actually read the Bible, which in many cases is WHY we became atheists

Hmmm, In my opinion the answer to your question is that you should quantify your analysis before making a false accusation. First independently total the number of rude responses from atheists, then in a separate category, total the number of rude responses from theists. If you want, you can breakout subdivisions for christians.
Of course defining rude is subjective, but my theory is there are more rude answers and rude questions directed from theists against each other and atheists as well as agnostics.

I am not rude unless I feel someone is trying to force me to follow their path because they apparently think they are "right". In my opinion, someone who feels superior because of what they believe is damn rude and a bigot. I can't stand them either!
Some believers want converts. They will pick on atheists because they think they are less secure in their belief but that's not true. I am very happy since I left the believing God.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm here to mock your superstitious beliefs. The only way to take away the illusion of religious power is by showing the world how completely full of it you people are.
As for hate, rude answers and ignorance, well if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black.

You said peace but accused many people of some pretty terrible things. Maybe you should question your own intentions before you ask a question that appears to bare the same qualities you're attributing to people who don't believe in God.

We are here the same reason so many theists are in science and philosophy catagories. By the way this is not the christian catagory - it is religion and spirituality and spirituality means a lot more that Gods. its also the spirit of human kind

Atheists are here, I suspect, for the same reason that Bible thumpers are here. They want to share the love of reasoning with you.Of course, like many fundamentalist religious right winged people with self righteous attitudes of I am right and you are wrong and so I will be rude about it, there are bound to be a few rude Atheist people

why do many that have answered your question thus far assume you are a Christian???
BTW I am a Christian and I like to hear their point of view and like some of the jokes....when it goes too far I just ignore. The differences in everyone is what makes it interesting and fun.

There seem to be more rude ignorant Christians than Atheists.
Your question is pretty rude my friend...
Not to mention blasphemous and hypocritical - aren't you taking god's name in vain there?

True many of them are Rude, of course not one Atheist has ever killed another person in the name of Science. That tends to be a Religious trait. I would prefer an Atheist's rudeness to a Christian damning me to Hell or a Muslim sending me there personally.
