It is always a good idea to request removal of old addresses.

Before you request that an address be removed, check with the credit reporting agency and make sure the address is not tied to a closed in good standing tradeline. You may lose the tradeline along with the address.

The reason that it is a good idea to remove outdated address is if you are not opted out and lenders pull promotional inquirys on your credit, they may send a credit invitation to an old address. That could leave the door open for whoever lives at the old address to receive credit in your name.

My guess is that addresses are one of those 7 year things. I have really really old addresses on my credit report. Having multiples addresses on your credit report shouldn't affect your credit score. But it can show lenders that you have a hard time staying in one place.
