Learning more about the treatment of fibromyalgia will make living with fibromyalgia much easier. In addition to this, it will make the process of diagnosis and treatment much less confusing for you.
There are a number of other treatments and medications that your doctor may recommend. Two common medications that your doctor may prescribe on an as needed basis would be Ambien and Flexeril. Ambien is a sleep aid that is used to help you during times when your sleep pattern disturbances are particularly bothersome. Flexeril is a muscle relaxant that is prescribed to relieve muscle pain and muscle spasms. In addition to these, medications doctors usually suggest treatments like physical therapy, massage therapy, chiropractic manipulation, and acupuncture. Your best chance for fibromyalgic pain relief is to use a combination of medication and therapy.

Flexoril is not available over the counter. Not sure where you heard that but it is still a prescription drug. If it was over the counter I wouldn't have to keep calling the doc to renew hubby script for it.
