I currently drive a 2 door 2000 Grand Am. My insurance is $415 every six months. I am wanting a Saab 9-3 and my insurance company said if I got a 2006, the VERY MOST would be $501 every six months. But of course, it could be cheaper. Is this a good quote or should I shop around a little more? I'm almost 24 and had one minor wreck 5 years ago that wasn't my fault.

Depending on what company your with it could be a little high. Of course your rates will drop once you turn 25.. It shouldn't matter if the accidnet wasn't your fault, but with a lot of company's it does... So I would recommend shopping around a little, but realize the more you shop around, and the more you supply insurance companys with you ss# to give you a quote, the more it shows up on your credit report as inquiries.. That kind of stuff shows up then to other people when they run a credit check..

I would say that's pretty good, man.
As a rule, if you're with one of the big'ns like Nationwide, Geico, Allstate or State Farm, it just doesn't get but so much cheaper, you might can save 20-50 dollars a YEAR from one to the next BUT if you switch insco's too much then this can raise your rates too...
I'm 40 years old, have a perfect driving record and own an '88 bmw, a '91 bmw, and a '95 D-2500 truck, my premium for the absolute minimum coverage is $430 / 6 mos., keep in mind these are older cars all paid for and I get multi-car discount (but it doesn't get cheaper with more cars LOL). But I'm saying, that Saab is probably worth twice as much as all of mine, so...
Keep that good driving record, oh and one more stupid thing: You don't necessarily need to work on improving your credit, but whatever you do don't make it worse... I'm not saying it's bad, but what I have learned is some Insco's charge you more if your credit rating isn't so hot (yes is bs, I know)....

insurance costs vary quite a bit depending on where you live. If this is for full coverage (liability and collision) I'd say that's a fairly good price. If that's just the basic coverage to get a tag it sounds high.
of course it never hurts to shop around!
By the way, I see you are considering a SAAB 93: if you buy one of those insurance cost will be the LEAST of your worries!
I just did a 4 wheel brake job on one, and this repair which normally would cost $350 or less (like on your current Grand Am) cost $980. Most of this was parts: $80 pads, $150 rotors!
So if a $500 insurance bill bothers you, I'd avoid exotic cars like SAAB!!! Not because of insurance, but maintenance!
I will say this: it is a very nice car and quite fun to drive. If I was rich and money made no difference I wouldn't mind having one.
