i was raised in the church (cult). i guess i still really have issues about how isolated i felt growing up in a religon that said everything the majority of the population is doing is wrong. i quit going at 16...when i basically had a choice and really resent everything they taught. does anyone else need therapy after attending?

I DON'T KNOW WHAT "JACK" IS SMOKING BUT HIS ANSWER HAD NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH MY QUESTION. I HOPE NO ONE ACTUALLY TAKES HIS ANSWERS SERIOUSLY.

Several of my friends are in this group (not me, as I've been Catholic all my life). But I know some people who did get out of it, and felt rather disillusioned. There are many, many different schisms within this church.

You need to lay off the drugs and try living in the real world for awhile. If you truly want to know about God, then quit thinking you already know all you need to know and dismiss the possibility there is a God. Find a good Christian church (I would suggest Catholic Church ) and study what they believe. Then and only then could you make an informed decision about what true FAITH is all about. "The truth will set you free "

"Tell me, I pray, if any Jew or pagan denied the Creed of the Catholic faith, should you think that we ought to listen to him? Most certainly not. What if a heretic or an apostate does the same? Still less should we listen to him, for it is worse for a man to forsake the truth which he has known, than to deny it without ever having known it." St. John Cassian ("On The Incarnation," early 5th century A.D.)

i think of it is something liek what one among my freinds grew up as, /he's not affiliated, yet his dad is. they have a annual assembly around october or september?? they are very such as jehovas witnesses in ideals.different than they rejoice birthdays?? they don't belive in vote casting or going to the same old practitioner,? is that this an identical form of church, if so, specific , they are nonetheless around and that they seem to be a cult. edit- yeah and that they visit church on saturdays and on saturday your not meant to the rest different than wach television earlier church and shop your blinds close until after church is over then you definately can do in spite of you prefer on saturday nighttime.

I was not - but I have met several other just like you with virtually the same symptoms.

Some got therapy (it did them good) - some just got into good Christian/Catholic faith and practice - and realized how wrong Herbert W. and Garner Ted Armstrong were....and some just gave up religion altogether.

Such sadness.
