If I connected a video player to a dvd recorder, would I be able to copy the video onto DVD or would it scramble due to copyright stuff? Do video player/dvd recorder combis allow VHS to DVD copying or does it have be video recorder/dvd recorder, for it to work?

Anyone who has tried to copy a VHS movie to a blank VHS tape will tell you the picture gets garbaged.
This is due to copy protection on commercial tapes.
Exactly the same happens if you connect a DVD recorder instead of the second VCR.

yes you can transfer from vhs to dvd, as long as there is a scart cable connecting them together.

a combi machine will also do this for you, and is easier to use.

hopw this helps wg

If it plays on your TV, then the AV output can be recorded onto your DVD.
