It is always best to have an attorney who is from the local area where your case will be heard!

Those attorneys are known within the judicial "clique" and have better relationships within the legal community.

Hiring an "outside" attorney will only cost you additional money for services rendered and travel expenses!

Your local attorney is qualified to look at the search warrant or other documentation used in your case where you allege illegal search and seizure and apply the laws of your state and community in your legal issue.

One other option is researching attorneys listed through your local or state bar association or by researching Lawyers.com.

Best wishes!

Depends on what your hiring an attorney for, and how much you want to travel to see your attorney. If it's someone out of town who is really good, specializing in what you need, and you think (or hear) he's better than local attorneys, then get the out of town guy. But in most cases, I think it's just easier to hire someone local.

local attorneys have more connections w/ wherever the charges are. Unless noone likes your attorney then it would be better to get an out of town lawyer.
I paid my attorney about 3 times as much as i should have and he got my charge dismissed and expunged when i should have gone to jail b/c it was my second offense.

I would guess a local attorney. They are more familiar with the judges in their own area, and they will feel more comfortable. I don't know how much of this is correct, but that's just my feeling on it. Good luck.

Yeah, because that's what a lawyer wants to do with him time. In addition to helping scumbag criminals avoid the jailtime they deserve, they really love to travel miles from home, and maybe stay at a motel while doing it.

Go local. Or better yet, plead guilty and save the taxpayers the cost of your trial.

Local attorney would be best... look for a former prosecutor, and ask him how many cases like yours he has handled. Overall, when choosing an attorney, go with your gut.

It's better to get an attorney that plays golf with the judge. Probably a former prosecuting atty, that sometimes helps.

Get a local attorney. Check with your friends or legal counsel where you work for references.
