Is olive oil really good for your hair? How do I use it? Do i put it on my hair wet or dry? How long should I leave it in?

When I use it I do as follows:

- use extra virgin olive oil
- heat it in a coffee mug in the microwave so that it's warm ....not hot ( if it's hot it will burn your scalp.....if you heat it too much, let it sit & cool until it's cooled down enough that you can stick you finger in it for 5 seconds)
- use it on dry hair ( so the oil can seep in better)
take a comb & dip in in the mug & comb it through your hair in sections...making sure to get the ends good
- if there's any left over after your hair is fully saturated, I just pour the rest over my head (carefully)
-put a shower cap over your head & jump in the shower & wash up ( the heat/steam of the shower will help it get in the hair better....plus, it helps with saving time :) )
- after 5 minutes in the shower, take the cap off & just pour shampoo on your head BEFORE putting any water on it. ( you may need to shampoo it a couple of times in order to get the stuff out )
- you don't need to use a conditioner afterwards ( b/c the oil would have made your hair soft already)

Oh, when you are in the shower, just be careful that you don't slip on the oil that comes off your hair .....I've done that a couple of times *lol* (&, make sure you just wash it all down the drai so whomever is next in the shower doesn't slip either)

Olive oil is a good moisturizer for the hair, but olive oil at very high temperature gets damaged therefore resulting in little to no benefit unless u just like the taste of deep fried... Just kidin. So my suggestion is heating it on the stove for a few seconds. I put some extra virgin organic olive oil in a spoon and place it over the flame for a few seconds enough to get it slightly warm. IMHO, warming in a microwave will damage the oil. Coconut oil on the other hand handles heat very well.

Used a combination of warm olive oil, 2 egg whites and honey. Put a shower cap on my head to keep it moisture. It said leave it on for 30 minutes, but I left it on for 1 1/2 hours. My HAIR is great! I didn't think I ever see the shine or texture again.

Warm olive oil and apply on the scalp and hair thoroughly at night time.
Massage it gently for a few minutes to spread the oil.
Wrap your hair in a damp towel or shower cap.
Leave it on for few hours to overnight and wash it off with shampoo.

I used it recently today for the first time. I did not heat he oil up, just placed a couple small nickle size amounts in my hand.. rubbed my hands together and then lightly fingered it through my hair. I let it set for a few minutes and then I jumped in the shower and washed my hair. Once I got out, I used two small dime size amounts to condition the hair after but did not rinse this it out. it made my hair feel soft and has a shine too it as well but not an oily feel to it. I think it depends on your texture of your hair, age and genetics with what is going on with your own hair...experiment and see what works for you. It helped with the dryness, It actually helped me get tangles out of my hair cause it made the hair more manageable.
