do not wear jeans!!! they will get wet with one fall and stay that way all day. and being in the cold in wet pants cannot be comfortable...
get a good pair of waterproof ski pants. you won't regret it.
for a jacket, pick out something warm that will stay dry. remember, always wear layers cuz its easier to take them off instead of wishing you had worn more.
do not underestimate the power of ski socks. regular socks typically just don't cut it. go to the store and pick out something that looks fuzzy and warm.
pick out a hat that will always cover your ears, or better yet a helmet. even when im not racing, i wear my helmet cuz its a million times warmer than my hat.
googles are pretty much a must. they keep the wind out of your face/eyes and the snow out of it too if you take a spill. plus they come in all sorts of sexy colors ;)
always pack multiple pairs of gortex gloves. its also not a bad idea to wear mittens inside, or a special glove liner. hand warmers are also good.
have fun on your trip!

Buy a good pair of ski gloves. Avoid ones with a load of fastenings - you need a pair that are easy to put on and off. Get a hat. It can be very colourful for on the slopes there are some outrageous ski hats and they are fun. Get a warm top with plenty of pockets and salopettes. Bring sunglasses - you can manage with those if it is not snowing hard but when it is snowing you need a good pair of goggles which you can buy locally as you can everything. I am sending this from the snowy slopes of Andorra. We are having a wonderful ski and it is pelting down with snow so I hope you enjoy skiing. Last point- do go to ski school for you will learn to ski in the right way and you will meet other beginners. Soldeau in Andorra is a super place and the snow is pretty good. We are at the Sports Village hotel which is stunning. Have a good time. Austria is lovely and quaint but the snow has not been so good over the last few years

Buy ski pants and coat that are light weight but warm and water repellent. Take along two pairs of ski gloves or mitts, goggles/ski mask or sunglasses, head gear (toque/helmet if required). Warm clothes for under the ski pants and a sweat top and turtleneck to keep your top warmer.

There are continuously options. truly some function is going into the layout of ski and snow board outfits, and some manufacturers (Bogner, Helly Hanson, for ski outfits come to ideas) look to jack up the costs yet completely usable outfits for snowboarding or boarding at very lifelike expenditures - yet you are able to understand what to seek for. For jackets, sleeve gathers, zipper wallet and a "placket" over the zipper are needed. Poly fleece and some type of moisture wicking layers lower than that are significant for warm temperature and convenience. do not get suckered into procuring outfits only because it truly is the nice and cozy label.

Aside from the standard clothes that you wold use, I would agree on the goggles. I have these goggles that have red lenses and I didn't wear them for a while because I was thinking, "I don't want everything to look red - that's annoying!". As it turns out, they're fantastic and your eyes adjust after about 3 minutes and you wouldn't know the lens is red, until you take them off and everything looks green for about a minute. Great way to keep wind and snow out of your face so you can keep hauling *** down the hill.

Apart from skiing specific equipment, Just a thick jacket and gloves and snowpants. Getting back to the ski specific equipment, it is definitely a good idea to get goggles and A HELMET! Don't hurt yourself out there.

Just make sure you get a jacket with Gortex....and pants if possible. Don't let them talk you out of it (--so that you'll buy THEIR product--). Go somewhere that has Gortex.

Goggles, at first you think that they are just there to humiliate you as you look so ridiculous in them but you do get blinded without them.
