Just because you want to fly the Black Hawk doesn't mean that you will get to....you have to be realistic and be ready to accept that you may end up with a different task. Both the Army and the Coast Guard offer great benefits...of course, they also have their drawbacks. In the Coast Guard you would be less likely to be deployed to some foreign land to live in a bunker like my husband is doing for this entire year in the Army. I would make a list of all of the pros and cons for both. Whichever one has the longest pros list and the shortest cons list wins.

The living conditions on a coast guard boat is terrible. I was in the Navy. When I crossed the Atlantic, we were listing 45 degrees and taking green water across our bow. That was a cruiser, and that is bigger than anything the Coast Guard has. And you will operate in the worst weather the ocean can throw at you. Order your dramamine by the buttload now.

It depends...The Army is highly deployable right now, where as in the USCG you will be safe guarding the coast. If you want to be very active and see the world, The Army is a better choice. They are both branches of the military and will recieve the same benefits.
My opinion would be join The Army.

Joining the Coast Guard will not guarantee you flying a helicopter. I don't know about the Coast Guard or Army, but in the Marine Corps, you have to be an officer to fly helicopters.

Why don't you apply for both and see which one accepts you first.
There is no certainty that you would get to fly the black hawk helicopter in the coast guard.
