I would like to lose about a stone and a half, although I am in no great hurry to do this, so can do so sensibly.

I lost weight before using the weight watchers points diet, but I know a bit more now in terms of calorie counting, and I know that if I want to lose weight, I should aim to eat around 1500 cals per day.

I think I may get easily confused if I was trying to count using both methods, so which do you find a more effective way of losing weight? Are any of them more restricting than the other? If I was to follow the weight watchers plan, I am allowed 20 points per day.

For the benefit of "sweetie" I have no problem getting men, but the difference between me and you is that I am capable of loving others more than I love myself, therefore in years to come, I will be in a happy settled relationship, whereas you will be surrounded by the only company of 10 cats as no other man will put up with your selfish self-loving attitude. I am not "fat" but want to lose weight to make myself feel better. If you're not going to give helpful answers then please keep your opinions to yourself.

I've tried loads of diets...the most successful one for me was the Atkins!...but I've learned now that if I just don't eat a lot of rubbish that I can keep the wieght off and drinking lots of water before meals helps too!

If you are dieting and exercising, than you should do 1200 calories. If you aren't exercising, you can do lower than that. Why not count them yourselves. The difference between women, and men is the fact that most women eat less because there bodies require less calories no matter if you do exercise or not. A 40 year old man can still eat 2000 calories while a woman can only eat 1700 without gaining weight. So, in essence, I believe a 1200 calorie diet would be better.

I'm on a 700 calorie diet except one day a week, and it's working fine for me. Of course, this is without exercise. Exercising and a 1200 calorie diet is like the same thing. You could lose 500 calories from your exercising a day. That's why they say to eat more when you are exercising. Good luck. Try the 1200 with exercise. Don't pay weight watchers!

Weight Watchers really is the best way as you can eat anything you want if you've accounted for it. Which ever way you lose weight it can be very boring and take a lot of determination. There's no way around that unfortunately is there?

I found a great way to lose weight fast and keep it off. I do body cleansing. I lost 13 pounds in 9 days and then 28 pounds in less than a month. Cleansing will help the body get rid of impurities. Impurites come from a lot of things like fast food, pollution, food additives and preservatives etc. The impurities get stored in the fat in our body. To shrink the fat, we have to get rid of the impurities by cleansing. This made sense to me and I decided to try a cleanse program and it worked. The weight came off fast and this kept me motivated to keep going, not like other diets where the weight loss it too slow. To learn more call the toll free number 1-877-587-4647 or check out the website. Cleansing was good for me. Good luck whatever you decide to do!

The best way to loose weight is to stick to a routine with some heavy cardio and have a dietitian prescribed low fat but high energy diet, plenty of drinking water and doing things you enjoy

Weightwatchers is a good guide, I would stay with it if I were you. Take regular exercise also. If you combine the Weightwatchers point system with the Carol Vorderman detox diet, you can't go wrong. Just don't be tempted by the Weightwatchers brand sweets and cakes, they are actually not a good idea.
