shampoo is supposed to pull oils off the hair and scalp...that's it's job...you should use a conditioner with it and your itching should cease...the soap is probably not pulling all of the natural oils out...however, your hair will lack protein over time, which makes it brittle...you should switch back to shampoo and use conditioner!

Shampoo is a soap with a much HIGHER concentration. Therefore, it takes more to wash it thoroughly out of your hair. It may just be that you weren't getting all of the shampoo out of your hair, and that was causing your scalp to itch.

Even if you were getting the shampoo out of your hair all the way, it may just be that the shampoo you were using was too strong. Try to find a shampoo that's a little lighter, that doesn't have as much perfume in it.

Could be that you were using the wrong shampoo and you have a sensitive, dry scalp.

You need a special shampoo for it.

I really don't condone soap because soap is harsh on your scalp and hair, and could cause dandruff. But if it works for you, go for it... But at least use a conditioner after you soap your hair to keep it supple and healthy.

well soap builds up a film in your hair over time not such a great idea to keep on doing this =)
Switch to a dandruff shampoo like head and shoulders or something like that =)

Perhaps you were allergic to the shampoo you used. Or, sometimes with men, when their hair is too soft, they find it itchy. Maybe shampoo made your hair too soft?

depending on your hair texture.. if you have thin hair-- then it's fine to use soap-- only if u cut it regularly... but if you are trying to grow it out then you may want to condition your ends... =)
