Normally you don't, the only persons of your husband's family with who you have "a link" is his sister & brother, and his parents , that's it. The other members of his family, you just have to call them by their name..

Your uncle and this girl's mother is no longer married - she's not his step daughter anymore. Also you are and were not blood related. Honestly, it sounds a little icky, but when you consider the facts, you can marry her because there is no blood relationship.

It's all about what you feel comfortable with.
I don't refer to my husband's family in family terms. I call them by their names instead.
