stick them in a brown paper bag with a piece of bread overnight....they should be nice and ripe in the am to use

I guess use a paper bag with some toast, that's an interesting one.
I was going to say put them in a warm place, because as we all know from the fridge, cold things last longer. And the freezer teaches us that even colder things last even longer. So a warm place will help.

Try putting it in a paper bag in the dark where there is no light or moisture. this should help. It will last a day.
