i've always thought that eating before bed is a bad thing, but recently they say that eating good carbs before bed releases seratonin and is actually good for you.

It doesn't matter. The reason is because you lose calories no matter you do. This is whether you are up, or sleeping. The people that believe that you do nothing when you are sleeping, and thus don't eat big before don't understand that you lose calories when you sleep, and if do anything at all. I can sit on a bed, and not move one inch.

However, I still would lose calories every hour no matter what. I doesn't matter. You need energy to breathe when you are sleeping, to turn over, and so on. When sleeping, a person could lose 62.5 an hour. Multiple that by 9 hours, or 8 hours. That's one fourth of person's diet. So, eat up to 540 calories before you go sleep. It doesn't matter.

I never heard it was good for you either. I always heard it will make u fat because that food is just sittin in ur tummmy and ur not working it off while sleep. Also I have heard that if u eat before u go to bed then u can have nightmares. Im not sure though. These are just things I have heard.

You need a high protein snack before bed to help keep your blood sugar more level. A bedtime snack is important.

Slow digesting proteins such as cottage cheese (1% is better than fat free for lower carbs), cassein blends and peanut butter are great prebed meals. If you don't feed your muscles for 8+ hours overnight, you will be catabolic without a slow digesting protein.
